**Finance Assistant Job Description**

**Reports to**:Head of Finance
**Working hours**:40 hours per week (full time)
**Salary**: £25,000 per annum
**Probationary Period**:6 months
**Work Location**: Raised In Central Office (flexible working considered)

**The purpose of the role is to.**

To provide financial and administrative support the Head of Finance and other departments within the organisation, in line with Raised In’s internal financial procedures and legislative requirements. On the job training will be provided and this role would be particularly suitable for someone studying for their AAT.

**Who we are**

We set up Raised in Bristol in 2017 because we wanted to find ways to help communities to thrive and prosper in challenging times. Community spaces and buildings are under pressure due to funding cuts and we were sure that we could find a way to keep some of them open by doing business a bit differently - a social enterprise way.

We run children’s nurseries in public buildings, paying market rent to the landlord, providing a resource for local working families and the youngest members of communities. Then when the nursery makes a profit, we give all of it back to the community it came from - and everyone benefits, not just the families who use the nursery.

**Roles & Responsibilities**
- Daily cash receipts allocation and bank reconciliation in Xero
- Raising monthly sales invoices
- Credit Control - send statements and proactively chase for payments in line with the debt policy established by Raised In
- Maintaining customer relationships and accounts, including management of deposits
- Look after inbox and respond to enquiries from inside and outside organisation
- Administrative tasks in relation to recruitment including new starters, leavers, HMRC changes, bank staff hours, holiday and sick leave
- Support the Head of Finance in the preparation of payroll and pension
- To maintain a good working relationship with the Admissions team
- Completion of CPD training as needed or as legislation dictates

**Other responsibilities**
- Act as an ambassador for the organisation and conduct yourself to a high professional, ethical and moral standard.
- Work within the organisation’s policies and procedures and uphold its ethos and core values
- Maintain a positive, collaborative, supportive and efficient working culture
- Some evenings and occasional weekend work may be required.
- Attend meetings away from normal place of work, when required

**Person Specification**

**Key Area Essential Desirable**

**Education & Training **At least 5 GCSEs A-C including Maths. Studying for AAT
English and Science

**Skills & Experience **Good standard of English - spoken and written.

Competent in Microsoft Excel, technical knowledge of IT systems.

Confidence and proficiency to learn and use new software including integrating software and understand new technologies.

Efficient with focused attention to detail and accuracy.

Great organisational skills, to work to regular deadlines.

Ability to work effectively, individually and as part of a team.
