What you will spend your time doing
We are looking to reinforce our FP P&I underwriting team in London and are looking to hire an Underwriter Shipowners’ P&I to provide underwriting services within the MS Amlin Marine UK Branch. You will play a crucial role in:
- maintaining and exceeding service levels and expectations of our stakeholders.
- optimising our proposition.
- assist with maintaining existing Client and Broker relationships
As an Underwriter, you have more than average interest in Marine related topics. Your expertise combines an understanding of risk and an in-depth knowledge of Shipowners’ P&I. The ultimate specialist, you analyse and assess the risk of any given applicant and design unique policies that work both for our customers as well as our business. You will be reporting to the Manager FP P&I and as part of the FP P&I team you are the point of contact for customers and brokers.

- Excellent communication skills and the ability to create and develop relationships
- Self-motivation and strong organisational skills
- Strong administrative and data entry skills
- Demonstrate ability to take initiative and be proactive
- Able to develop rapport and build relationships at all levels
- Proven ability to evaluate risks and make sound commercial decisions on writing them within existing Underwriting Guidelines
- Proven ability of developing successful new and existing business and relationships
- Demonstrate good understanding of the insurance and client markets, with the ability to identify new opportunities
- Proven experience of successfully adapting knowledge to meet client needs with commercial acumen
- Affinity with fishing vessels and yachts
