Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Childcare Assistant to join our team. As a Childcare Assistant, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety, well-being, and development of children in our care. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of young children.

Main Responsibilities:

- Supporting the children’s care, learning, development and play needs in the allocated room.
- Contributing to the weekly activities' programme/curriculum.
- Preparing activities and materials according to the weekly activity plans
- Clearing away activities as required and ensuring room and other areas are left clean and tidy in accordance with Health Protection Agency Guidelines at the end of each day/session
- Completing the children’s daily report sheets and providing feedback to parents/carers at the end of each session.
- Greeting parents/carers at the start & end of a session in an appropriate manner.
- Completing the accident book when appropriate and following the incident reporting guidelines under supervision of Room Leader
- Following and adhering to the Health Protection Agency Guidelines
- Completing Changing room cleaning & record in accordance with Health Protection Agency Guidelines
- To be committed and dedicated to attend the necessary training.
- Encouraging the daily use of Welsh and appreciation of the Welsh culture within the Project

Other Responsibilities:

- Opening the main door and welcoming the children and parents and visitors using the Welsh language and in a welcoming manner, ensuring all visitors sign in/out and are supervised at all times.
- Preparing food and clearing away food and drinks when necessary, adhering to FSA environmental guidelines.
- Attending staff meetings, contributing as appropriate. Absentees must read and sign the minutes of the meetings
- Following and adhering to the policies and procedures of MCCP Ltd
- Monitoring stock levels and reporting shortages to the Room Leader.
- Supporting MCCP Ltd fundraising events
- Informing Room Leader of any broken toys and equipment, and disposing of all broken items in accordance with Health Protection Agency Guidelines
- Cleaning and disinfection of toys and equipment on a weekly basis in accordance with Health Protection Agency Guidelines
- Undertaking any other duties that are appropriate to your role as deemed necessary by the Management of MCCP Ltd
- Answering the phone if Manager/Deputy Manager/Room Leaders are unavailable, recording messages and noting absences if required.
- To attend supervisions and appraisals with your line manager.

Essential Requirements:

- Minimum Level 2 childcare qualification
- A genuine love of children and young people
- A good understanding of children’s developmental needs
- The ability to communicate with parents/carers and children
- Good teamwork skills with the ability to work under own initiative when required
- A positive attitude
- Commitment to the Welsh language and culture

Desirable Requirements:

- The ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh
- Knowledge or experience of working with children with additional needs
- Experience of working for a Management Committee in the voluntary sector

Holidays:
22 days per annum, pro rata, plus 8 days Bank Holidays
