Overview:
Sky is seeking an experienced, dynamic and enthusiastic professional to join as Head of Policy in the UK, reporting to the Director of Policy and Public Affairs.

Given the convergence of different technologies and changing consumer tastes for media consumption, interaction with policymakers is critical to Sky’s business strategy and future plans. This role will drive this through proactive engagement that promotes and protects Sky’s interests across a wide range of stakeholders. Understanding the policy agenda as well as the political environment that shapes it is vital.

The Head of Policy is a senior role within a team of six people in the UK, Sky’s biggest market, with two direct reports. The role covers all of Sky’s established activities across TV, communications, tech and finance, as well as new product developments and emerging regulatory and competitive threats and opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead the development and articulation of Sky’s position on a range of UK political, policy and reputational issues, working closely with the Director of Public Affairs and Policy and the Group Director of Corporate Affairs
- Develop and implement strategic plans to advance Sky's policy objectives in alignment with wider team and business goals.
- Work with colleagues across the business to understand the impact of policy developments on operations and develop Sky’s public policy positions to respond to key challenges and opportunities that emerge from the evolving political agenda
- Lead and provide clear direction to Policy team members, ensuring effective execution of campaigns to shape a favourable political environment.
- Track legislative and regulatory developments in the Media, Communications, and Tech sectors, and assess their impact on Sky.
- Represent Sky externally, including Ministerial meetings & roundtables, parliamentary engagements and industry conferences.
- Manage Sky’s relationships with trade associations across the media, communications and tech sectors.

Essential skills and experience
- Experience gained in a similar role, within a corporate, governmental or regulatory environment.
- Proven track record of leading successful policy and/or public affairs campaigns and initiatives with demonstrative outcomes.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to represent the company in high-profile forums.
- Excellent external network with a wide range of political and regulatory stakeholders
- Deep understanding of core public policy issues relevant to the media, communications and tech industries.
- Successful line management of junior team members
- (Desirable) Knowledge of the Media, Communications, or Tech sectors and relevant policy issues.
