This is an opportunity to work within a busy department within Denbighshire County Council. We aim to provide a professional service and we are willing to provide any training or courses needed to provide this to our customers.

**Job Purpose**

To provide an effective and efficient onsite service. Ensuring the security of the building and the surrounding areas also to operate the heating and lighting of the premises, cleaning and minor maintenance works.

**Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities**

Ensure the buildings are opened at the beginning of the day and made secure at the night.

Undertake any cleaning duties as required.

Ensure site safety through the monitoring and operation of intruder and fire alarms, reporting any malfunctions to the appropriate person.

To attend the building as necessary outside normal working hours in cases of alarm activation or other emergencies.

Ensure the efficient removal of waste from the building and the grounds, including recycling.

To maintain the building and surrounding area in a clean and tidy condition, will include snow clearing/gritting as and when appropriate.

Ensuring adequate stock of toiletries and distributing as and when required.

Operating the heating plant in accordance with guidelines.

Undertake any minor maintenance work and repairs as and when required.

Responsible for the maintenance and safekeeping of hand tools.

**Resources/Equipment/Material**

Products and equipment will be provided by your Manager.

**Supervision/Management of People**

Supervision of cleaning staff

**Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience**

Good numeracy and literacy skills.

Previous caretaking skills.

Understanding of Health & Safety legislation.

Knowledge of building security.

Knowledge of routine maintenance work.

Excellent organisation skills.

Good communication skills.

**Special Working Conditions**

Possibility of working with hazardous substances (cleaning sprays etc).

Possible exposure to wet/cold weather.
