**Summary of the Role**

You will support young people with Special Educational Needs or a Learning Difficulty / Disability accessing our Supported Internship and Work Placement programmes. The support will primarily take place in the employment setting but also the college and will be tailored to meet the individual’s needs, whilst maintaining their dignity and self-respect. You will work closely with the parents/carer’s, employer/employees and colleagues to maintain the quality of the placement. Wherever possible, the young person will move into paid employment at the end of their programme. In the role of Job Coach, you will be supporting individuals to develop a positive work ethic and become a high performing employee. The role involves supporting a young people with learning difficulties/disabilities and/or special educational needs (SEN) in a work experience placement with a local employer. You will need to have the experience in a place-train-fade model of supported employment, experience in TSI Training and an ability to support young people towards paid employment. Excellent self-management and communication skills in working with a wide range of stakeholders and partners are essential. Our Supported internship and Work Placement programmes are for young people with learning difficulties aged 16 to 24 with an Education, Health and Care Plan who want to move into employment and need extra support to do so. The two strands are structured study programmes based primarily around employability. They are designed to enable young people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities to achieve sustainable, paid employment by equipping them with the skills they need for work through learning both in college and in the workplace. The Work placement programme prepares for young people for a Supported Internship with both being part of their journey toward achieving long-term career goals that fit with their working capabilities. Job coaches are critical to the success of Work Placement and Supported Internships programmes. They provide in-work support for young people which tapers off as the individual becomes familiar with their role but can always be increased if issues arise. Job coaches provide support to employers, increasing their confidence of working with these young people and helping them to understand the business case for employing a diverse workforce.

- Be aware of and support difference and ensure all students have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop.
- Recognise own strengths and areas of expertise and use these to advise and support others.
- Contribute to the identification and execution of appropriate out of centre learning activities which consolidate and extend work carried out in class.
- Attend and participate in relevant meetings both during and after the working day as required. To continuously develop your own role, taking responsibility for identifying and addressing training and development needs.

- To remain vigilant and do everything possible to protect learners and others from abuse of a physical, emotional, sexual, neglectful, financial or institutional nature. This includes an absolute requirement to report to the Senior Team any incident of this nature you witness, hear about or suspect.
- When working with computerised systems that to be completely aware of responsibilities at all times under the Data Protection Act 1998 for the security, accuracy, and significance of personal data held on such systems.

**Essential Requirements**
- Specialist training including; Administering Medication, MCA, DOLS, Health and Safety, First Aid, Manual Handing
- To hold a minimum of Level 3 Learning Support Qualification or a willingness to undertake.
- To hold level 2 or equivalent qualifications in English and Maths.
- Systematic Instruction Training etc are desired or willingness to work towards
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage time efficiently.
- Proven ability to create strong links and work effectively as part of a team.
- Knowledge of working with external organisation i.e., ESFA,
