**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**Role**:Senior Youth Worker | Assistant Designated Safeguarding Lead

**Pay**:£27,681 - £29,603 (pro rata)
**Hours**:28.5 hours per week (including 3 evenings and Saturdays)

**SENIOR YOUTH WORKER | ASSISTANT DESIGNATED SAFEGUARDING LEAD'S POSITION IN OUR ORGANISATION**

**Responsible to**:Project Manager & Trustees of CommunityNE66 Charitable Trust

**Clients**:Core client group will be 9-19 years old. The post will also include community and family support work as and when required to meet community needs.

**Professional Development**:Professional development will be supported by**:Project Manager (supervision), Project Development Worker, Safeguarding Trustee and external facilitators.

**Line Management Responsibilities**:Sessional workers and volunteers

**Finance Responsibilities**:Petty Cash, small grant management

**Dates Role Available**:Position is funded until 31st December 2024. Continuation funding will be sought.

**Duties and Key Result Areas**
- Working directly with children and young people to develop their social / personal education by providing programmes of activities, services and facilities.
- Developing the delivery of youth work in a range of settings: centre based (Alnwick Community Centre), detached, outreach, partner agency settings such as schools.
- Delivering youth work to outcomes specified by a number of stakeholders ie. Trustees, funders, partner agencies and, most importantly, young people.
- Advocating for young people and their families.
- Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with young people and community groups, and supporting emotional and social development via positive role modelling, respectful relationships and empathetic listening.
- Providing advice and support to families, partner agencies and other community groups.
- Promoting motivation, retention, development of young volunteers.
- Leading on the delivery and monitoring of Youth Work provision.
- Attending regular supervision and an annual appraisal as directed by the line manager, and replicating this with sessional workers and volunteers.
- Working to all of the Trust’s policies and procedures, upholding confidentiality, safeguarding, health and safety, anti-discriminatory practice, equal opportunities and working within GDPR rules and regulations.
- Supervising other paid team and unpaid team members.
- Deputising for the Project Manager.
- Acting as an Assistant Designated Safeguarding Person.
- Securing and managing small project specific grants.

**WORK ARRANGEMENTS**

**Transport Requirements**:N/A

**Working Patterns**:3 evenings per week and Saturdays - this may vary between Term Time and school holidays.

**Working Conditions**:Typically Centre based but includes being outdoors in all weather conditions during detached work and educational visits.

- (E) Level 3 Youth Work Qualification - (D) BA (Hons) Youth Work (Application)
- (E) A minimum of 2 years experience of safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults - (D) A minimum of 2 years experience representing children, young people and vulnerable adults at statutory meetings, TAFs, Strategy meetings etc. (Application/Interview)
- (E) Participated in Designated Person Safeguarding Training - (D) Trained as a Designated Safeguarding person (Application/Interview)
- (E) Experienced in making safeguarding decisions - (D) Experienced Designated Safeguarding Person
- (E) Training in supporting areas, i.e. Drugs, CCard etc. - (D) Experienced in working with young people with behavioural challenges around drugs, sexual health etc. (Application/Interview)
- (E) Understanding of anti-discriminatory practice and non-violent communication - (D) Promoting anti-discriminatory and the upskilling of team members and volunteers (Application/Interview)
- (E) Experience implementing equal opportunities in youth work practice.
- (E) Level 2 Food Hygiene Application/ interview - (D) Experience of monitoring COSSH, fire and other health and safety policies and procedures.

**Experience**
