**Post**:
Clinical Fellow in Palliative Medicine

**Sessions (2 fixed term posts)**:

- 1 full time for 1 year from 2 August 2023 (part time will be considered, minimum 8 sessions) with the possibility of extension/being made permanent. No on call commitment.
- 1 part time for 6 months from 2 August 2023 (minimum 4 sessions) with the possibility of extension/being made permanent. No on call commitment.

Consultants in Palliative Medicine

**Responsible to**:
Medical Leads

**Minimum Qualifications**:
Full registration with GMC and 1 year’s post registration experience

**Salary**:
NHS Specialty Registrar pay scale (core training) £35,405 - £46,842 per year (pro rata) (dependant on experience)

**Commencement Date**:
Wednesday, 2 August 2023

**Interview date**:
We anticipate that interviews will take place on Thursday, 22 June 2023

**Who This Job is For**:
The post will provide an excellent opportunity to gain experience and skills in a supportive palliative care setting, for those considering a career in palliative medicine (either through speciality training or as a speciality doctor), allied medical specialties or general practice. Though this not a training post, opportunity for training will be available under the supervision of accredited palliative medicine consultants. The post will provide excellent clinical experience, and time and support will be given for involvement in quality improvement work, teaching and management projects.

**The Role**:
Northern Ireland Hospice is a charitable company (limited by guarantee). The position will include responsibilities within all areas of adult patient care, including in-patients, out-patients (through our outpatient hub) and community patients. The role will be adapted to suit the skills and experience of the post holder, but will be initially focused on the inpatient unit. The role is supported by a strong multidisciplinary team including nurses, AHP’s, chaplaincy and social work. The post-holder will join the existing team of Consultants in Palliative Medicine (5), 1 hospice speciality doctor, 1 clinical fellow, 1 specialty trainees and 1 internal medicine trainee.
