Talocher School is a specialist school for girls and boys aged 7 to 19 with social, emotional and mental health needs some also have an ASC diagnosis. The school provides a warm, welcoming and flexible environment for young people who are unable to attend mainstream education because of their additional learning needs.

This is a full-time position for a school counsellor, working with children who attend a secondary and primary SEMH and ASC specialist school provision. You should have at least 3 years post qualifying practice experience as a counsellor and have a sound range of knowledge around working with children/young people with complex needs, during term time.
- Contribute to the effective and ethical running of the counselling service
- Maintain a client caseload, record keeping, report writing and carry out assessments
- Communicate with the internal and external therapeutic services
- Support and uphold safeguarding policies and procedures
- Develop and build positive working relationships with children and young people
- Attend relevant meetings, which represent therapeutic needs for individuals
- Be resilient and work in collaboration as part of the education team
- Have a strong understanding of therapeutic ethical frameworks and good practice
- Engage and coordinate with visiting therapeutic professionals
- Translate reports and referrals and identify needs of individuals
- Attend monthly clinical supervision
- Contribute to staff training and workshops as required
- Liaise with therapy lead
- Hold a qualification in Counselling to level 5 or above
- Evidence a good level of CPD
- A registered or accredited member of BACP, UKCP or other affiliated body
- Have practice knowledge of different therapeutic models and styles of working
- Have 3 years or more post-qualification experience
- Experience of working in a busy school environment
