Elevation Recruitment Group are delighted to be the retained partner to Drax Group PLC, in the appointment of a Head of HSE and Governance, at their largest power plant based in Yorkshire.
Drax Group are an energy company engaged in renewable power generation, the production of sustainable biomass and the sale of renewable electricity to businesses.
Operating with a portfolio of sustainable biomass, hydro-electric and pumped hydro storage assets across four sites in England and Scotland, Drax is the UK's largest source of renewable electricity, currently employing 3,400 people in the UK and North America.
The role:
Duties & Responsibilities:
*Responsible for all aspects of Health & Safety, Technical Training, Occupational Hygiene and Governance with Integrity teams c.30 people
*Develop and implement the strategy for the team / plant with input and management of OPEX and CAPEX budgets, reviewing spend requirements on a continual basis
*Drive the delivery of KPIs across Drax
*Engage all areas of the business with HSE and set high standards throughout
*Coach, mentor and develop a positive working culture whilst promoting an environment where individuals can be accountable and take ownership
*Lead the implementation of internal and external audit programs for HSE, Training and Group compliance
*Support and promote all aspects of the company's vision, health and wellbeing and be the interface with HR
*Regularly analyse incident reports and feedback to operations with guidance for continuous improvement
*Maintain safety statistics; report curation to reflect performance and provide regular updates to relevant parties e.g., Senior Management
*Lead occupational hygiene and its team; interpret industry best practice and design systems to ensure the business and its people stay compliant
*Lead consistent Technical Training in line with group requirements and latest industry standards
*Provide individuals with a high level of training to carry out their role in a safe and compliant way from apprentice up
*Ensure all governance and integrity of the ever-growing department is documented, with technical minutes and appropriate documentation
*Provide an in-depth knowledge of the correct engineering standards and technical support with external engineering advice
*Report on and develop the safety process with improvement strategies, aligning with KPIs and system development
*Own the company Technical Procedures with full ownership and accountability for specific audit standards and quality
The successful person will have the following skills & experience:
*NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
*Experience of working with ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001
*NEBOSH construction is highly desired
*Experienced in HSE across power, energy or process industry sectors - highly desired
*An established, credible leader with demonstrable management experience working in a unionised environment
*Proven experience in delivering change and transformation
*Analytical and commercial in your approach, with an ability to adapt quickly to support ever changing business needs
*Experienced leader with the ability to forge strong relationships and support the Senior Leadership Team, with an appreciation for HR and strong internal relationships
*Self-starter in pursuing the objectives set out for HSE and Governance
