**About the role**:
As a Stores Team Member, you’ll be working within the Stores department at our TrainCare Centre and will report to the Materials Manager. You’ll be responsible for issuing materials and calibrated instruments to colleagues within Engineering and ensuring goods are stored safely and correctly in line with Health and Safety requirement materials to support vehicle availability and reliability targets.

The materials are stored and controlled via the SAP and Maximo inventory management systems, you will be responsible for keeping this up to date and maintaining accurate records. You’ll be working outside and around the TrainCare Centre in a safety critical environment operating a forklift truck, to receive, store and deliver goods.

**Key responsibilities**:
This is a varied and challenging role, but here is a taste of what your day-to-day activities could include:

- Issuing train parts, calibrated instruments other consumable materials to colleagues within engineering, to ensure we keep the railway moving
- Delivering and receiving of goods, dealing with receipts
- Maintaining accurate records, using the SAP and Maximo system, to ensure we always have sufficient stock levels
- Ensure goods are stored safely and correctly in line with Health and Safety procedures, so you’ll ensure the safety of yourself and others around you
- Arrange and undertake regular stock checks at the TrainCare Centre
- Operating a forklift truck to deliver, receive and store goods.

**About you**:
The Stores Team Member is a varied role working with various colleagues across engineering at Northern, so you’ll need to be customer focussed and have good communication skills. Materials are controlled by the SAP and Maximo system, so computer literacy and previous experience of SAP systems would be desirable but not essential as full training would be provided within the role. You’ll be dealing with a varied and complex inventory of materials included calibrated goods so great attention to detail, flexibility and reliability is essential.

We’re also looking for the following:

- Ability to work on your own initiative.
- Someone who is organised, friendly, and confident about talking to and building relationships.
- Someone with excellent organisation skills and the ability to work on own initiative.
- Previous experience operating a forklift truck desirable, although not essential as full training is required.
- Working in a small team also required flexibility to support operations and colleagues where exceptional circumstances arise.
