Location - Whalley Depot BB7 9RW (but may be required to work at various locations throughout Lancashire)

Lancashire Highway Operations is responsible for the direct delivery of all highway related schemes across the County made up of 4'300 miles of road, 151'000 street lights and 2'955 bridges.

We have an exciting opportunity for two enthusiastic skilled Highways Operatives required to be part of a team assisting with the provision of maintenance and construction of roads, footways, drainage systems and associated street scene works within the guidelines of a safe working environment. This will be an opportunity to support the maintenance and enhancement of the highway network and provide long term benefits for residents, visitors and businesses in Lancashire.

Specifically the role involves driving and operating vehicles, plant and machinery including mechanical excavators, powered light plant such as concrete mixers, portable pumps, portable traffic lights, hydraulic breakers, cut off saws, ride on rollers, pedestrian rollers, compactor plates, preparing and laying materials including asphalt, concrete, kerbs and paving units to maintain and improve the highway network. Compliance with site plans and health and safety legislation and completing records on hand held IT equipment. We also require someone who can commit to taking part in winter maintenance standby.
