**Job Title: Art Therapist**

**School: East Lane Primary School, Wembley High Technology College and North Brent School**

**Location: North Wembley**

**Role Overview**:
The Art Therapist at WMAT is a compassionate and qualified professional responsible for providing art therapy services to students with diverse needs. This role involves using artistic and creative processes to help students explore and express their emotions, enhance their well-being, and support their overall mental health within the context of WMAT

**Key Responsibilities**:
**1. Individual and Group Art Therapy**:
Provide one-on-one and group art therapy sessions to WMAT students, tailoring interventions to meet the unique needs of each participant.

Use a variety of art modalities to help students express their thoughts and feelings in a safe and supportive environment.

**2. Assessment and Goal Setting**:
Conduct assessments to understand the emotional and psychological needs of WMAT students.

Collaborate with school staff, parents, and other professionals to set therapeutic goals and develop personalized treatment plans.

**3. Integration with Educational Programs**:
Work collaboratively with WMAT teachers, counsellors, and other staff to integrate art therapy into the overall educational and support programs.

Provide consultation and support to educators regarding students' emotional and behavioural well-being.

**4. Documentation and Evaluation**:
Maintain thorough and confidential records of art therapy sessions and assessments at WMAT

Regularly evaluate the progress of WMAT students, adjusting therapeutic approaches as needed.

**5. Crisis Intervention**:
Be available for crisis intervention and support at WMAT when needed, working closely with the school's crisis response team.

Provide immediate support to students dealing with acute emotional challenges.

**6. Parental and Stakeholder Communication**:
Communicate regularly with parents and guardians of WMAT students to provide updates on progress and collaborate on ongoing support strategies.

Participate in meetings with WMAT staff, administrators, and external agencies as needed.

**7. Professional Development**:
Stay informed about current developments and best practices in art therapy and mental health.

Pursue continuous professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge, contributing to the well-being of WMAT students.

**Qualifications and Experience**:
Master's degree in Art Therapy or a related field from an accredited institution.

Certification or licensure as an Art Therapist.

Previous experience working as an Art Therapist in an educational setting is preferred.

Knowledge of child development, psychology, and counselling principles.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to collaborate effectively with WMAT’s multidisciplinary team.

**Note**: This role is integral to WMAT’s commitment to providing holistic support for students, fostering their emotional and mental well-being within the unique educational context of the school. The Art Therapist should collaborate closely with school counsellors, psychologists, and other professionals to create a comprehensive support network for WMAT’s students.

Pay: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
