Position: Legal Counsel - Telecoms / Civils
Location: Flexible working so any UK base is fine.
Package: Basic circa £80-90k with 15% bonus, pension and health.
We are looking to bring in a legal counsel, to join a well funded alt-net that are providing full fibre networks across the UK.
It's an exciting period of change for the senior level in the business, and they've delivered a lot by way of homes passed and RFS within a relatively short time period, but having previously outsourced the legal capability in the business, the goal nowis to have that knowledge in-house so we are looking to bring in someone to act as legal counsel, and be responsible for legal agreements with the build partners and suppliers, alongside supporting HR and the rest of the management team with any legal issuesthat may arise within their departments.
Reporting to the CFO, you'll be ultimate point of legal responsibility and will be tasked with Drafting, reviewing and negotiating various commercial contracts and agreements (based on JCT and LMA agreements).
Communication will be key, and the ability to converse / advise internally alongside working with / managing external solicitors, contract partners and representing the company when dealing with legal government agencies is going to be a key part of theposition.
We'd be looking for an advise and consult nature and many of the positions we have been helping the company recruit recently have been geared towards senior leadership joining the business and helping to put the scalable foundation in place as the companycontinues to move through rapid growth.
Your background:
Sound understanding and knowledge of commercial and corporate law as it applies to a business who are building and deploying large scale telecoms networks across the UK. On telecoms, ideally you will be from the sector but we can consider strong legal professionalsfrom other aspects of civils / infrastructure build due to the similarity of the regulations.
Away from telecoms, the more generic aspect of the role will call for varied experience with employment law Experience in Employment Law and advantage and it's assumed you'll have excellent negotiating and drafting skills (JCT and LMA).
It's likely a 5 year post qualified role due to the stand alone aspect of the position but we are flexible on location and can consider applicants from anywhere in the UK as while occasional travel would be required, the vast majority of the time would involveflexible working so you would base from home.
Benefits package includes 15% bonus, enhanced pension and private healthcare. Business expenses will be covered for any associated travel with the role.
