Accounts Assistant

Overview:
As an Accounts Assistant, you will be working closely within a team supporting the needs and requirements within the centralised accounts team specifically supporting the Financial Controller with the day to day tasks.
**Duties**:
- Responsible for managing your key performance indicators (KPI’s) which will form part of your appraisal.
- Overseeing the purchase ledger including: Investigating and resolving supplier queries/Chasing POD’s (purchase order documents) from suppliers/Reconciling supplier statements to UCUK ledger/Closing month end period and printing monthly reports that are required for the Financial Controller/Liaising with Purchasing Department over any discrepancies.
- Managing employee expense claims and company credit card expenses.
- Reconciling cash payments to all bank accounts.
- Posting cash payments to the ledger
- Setting up supplier payments on the bank
- Taking card payments from customers
- Answering questions from auditors as and when required.
- Overseeing petty cash postings and reconciliations.
- Overseeing the aged debt collection process
- Assisting the Financial Controller with month end management accounts. This will include but not limited to accruals/prepayments, Fixed Assets, Balance Sheet reconciliations, posting journals to ledger.
- Cover for purchase ledger and sales ledger as and when required. This will include, but not limited to, matching and posting supplier invoices, answering calls from customers and posting cash receipts to ledger.
Attributes/Qualifications:
- AAT qualification
- Accounts Assistant experience
- Purchase Ledger experience
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, alongside being a team player
- Confidence with the ability to communicate in the correct manner
- Good computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office. Good Excel knowledge is essential
