**The role**
The Financial Reporting Accountant role is responsible for the delivery of Management Information and Financial Accounting activity for Reed in Partnership and its subsidiaries.
The right person for this role will ideally be a qualified Accountant (relevant part-qualification or QBE considered) keen to join an organisation committed to improving the lives of people in the communities they serve, who has experience of working in a largebusiness. They will have a broad skill set covering various aspects of accounting and tax and will be at a stage in their career where they feel comfortable to take ownership for the company’s financial reporting framework and associated deadlines.
The Financial Reporting Accountant will drive performance and take responsibility for the timely delivery of periodic divisional management information, associated commentary, and reconciliation, supported by regular reviews to ensure accurate processing andrecord keeping.
They will be passionate about creating meaningful reports and using their proven Excel and Power BI skills to improve data analysis - creating, implementing, and maintaining controls and exploring opportunities for increased efficiency. They will have workedwith various systems and ERPs and will be highly data literate and able to interpret and comment on records kept.
This role will also be responsible for reviewing and analysing financial information from various sources, ensuring timely Balance Sheet Reconciliation and reporting, including intra-group control accounts and accurate statements of assets and liabilities inaccordance with accounting policies.
The financial reporting process involves oversight of extensive property transactions, accruals and prepayments, maintenance of Fixed Assets and other Balance Sheet controls. Detailed working knowledge of VAT, PAYE and other statutory compliance is vital, alongsidea talent for accurate cashflow reporting and treasury/bank management - ensuring transactions are executed and recorded accurately and in a timely manner to support forecasting and decision making.
**Key accountabilities**
**Technical Competencies**:

- Timely periodic preparation of divisional management accounting information, with associated analysis and commentary on key variances and trends.
- Reconciliation of Balance Sheet items, with documentary evidence and calculations to support all balances.
- Report each period on relevant transactional activity and robustness of controls.
- Able to present and report on accurate and timely visibility of accruals, prepayments and other Balance Sheet control accounts.
- Extensive VAT, PAYE & Corporation Tax knowledge and able to complete and submit a variety of statutory returns in a timely and accurate manner
- Reconciliation of intercompany accounting transactions, and periodic reporting thereon.
- Proactive support for the preparation of statutory accounts and annual audit, liaising with external auditors, preparing Lead Schedules and reconciliations, as required.
- Development and on-going production of capital expenditure monitoring, reporting and control
- Management of the treasury function - ensuring transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled, meeting business requirements and KPIs, assessing controls, reviewing risk and driving improvement.
- Maintain short and medium-term cash flow forecasting to support decision making

- Excellent Communicator - able to provide cross - departmental support throughout the business, as required, ensuring that financial information is accurate and timely, including business partnering activities, as needed.

**Skills & experience**
**Essential Criteria**:

- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team with good communication and reporting skills
- Excellent General Ledger reconciliation skills with a tenacious approach to delivery and the ability to creatively and proactively problem solve.
- Highly accurate and detail orientated with a proven track record for data analysis
- Knowledge of current Corporation Tax and VAT legislation
- Previous experience of treasury management and forecasting in a varied and operational role
- Extensive financial accounting experience, with detailed and current knowledge of IFRS
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with proven resilience and the ability to work under pressure and achieve reporting deadlines.
- A proactive and flexible, ‘can do’ attitude with a strong sense of honesty and integrity
- Ability to be diligent and retain high levels of concentration and accuracy at all times
