We are looking to recruit an experienced, creative Estates gardener at Standon Hall.
**About us**
We are a new luxury wedding and events venue located just outside Eccleshall, Staffordshire. We are a Grade II listed country house with exceptional gardens and a modern and crazy twist that everyone envies.
As an independent, family run business, we aspire to offer our fearlessly stylish couples a destination venue with unprecedented dining and drinking options, unique bedrooms and event spaces.
You will have the opportunity to build on the foundations that have already been laid and drive the business to new heights.
Core hours work 8.30am to 4.30pm, 5 days out of 7, normally Monday to Friday. Flexibility is required during the growing season and/or to fit around events, so weekend work and out of standard hours may be a requirement.
You should be hardworking, creative and charismatic with the ability to deliver a luxury guest experience. You will be working outside so will need to be prepared to work in all weather types. You will help to maintain the grounds, gardens and woodlands on the estate of Standon Hall all whilst reporting to the Estates manager or Garden Supervisor.
**Main duties & Job Responsibilities**
- Lawn care, Mowing, Strimming of all grass areas on the estate
- Weeding & planting when and where required
- Hedge cutting, Pruning & dead heading
- To keep on top of watering
- Assisting with Hard landscaping projects, fencing etc.
- Driveway and path maintenance
- Hedge cutting
- Maintenance of car parks, and water systems
- Leaf blowing
- Spraying
- Snow clearance and salting in winter
- Maintenance of the log stores, suppling the main house as and when required
- Occasional assistance with other duties to assist house and events team
**Skills & experience**
- Flexibility and adaptability to juggle a range of different tasks and to work extra hours when required to meet deadlines.
- Physically fit as this is a hands-on and active role.
- Excellent communication skills
- Presentable & organised with strong attention to detail.
- PA1/6, & horticulture qualifications would be welcomed
- Must have experience of using the usual range of garden machinery
- Woodland Management would be welcomed
**About you**
- You must have a passion for gardening have a keen eye for detail
- You are positive and proactive and able to self motivate
- You must be able to drive due to rural location
**Salary**: £12.82 per hour
