Twickenham, United Kingdom Turner's House Full time

**Turner’s House is looking for a Horticultural tutor for a series of 9 gardening and wellbeing workshops to deliver as part of our wellbeing programme.**

The Wellbeing programme at Turner's House engages those receiving mental health support and older people through art and gardening workshops which sessions aim to improve mental and physical wellbeing, alleviate loneliness, encourage creativity and build confidence.

The gardening and wellbeing sessions will be delivered on fortnightly Thursdays afternoon, and be run in Turner’s House side land garden, starting from the end of June. The Horticultural tutor should plan and deliver nine 1.5-hour sessions, covering basic and intermediate skills of gardening. Inspiration should come from Turner’s House, JMW Turner and the local area.

The programme aims to enhance participants wellbeing by looking after plants and taking time for themselves, while engaging with the history of the local area. People will learn new skills and how to look after a community garden.

Due to the nature of the participants, empathy, patience, and listening skills are appreciated. The Learning and Volunteers Officer will deliver a training session with the chosen tutor and, unless the tutor already has one, they will have to undertake a DBS check through Turner’s House.

The Horticultural tutor will work in partnership with the Learning and Volunteers Officer, in the planning and delivering of the sessions.

The budget for the tutor’s fee is £110/130 (depending on experience) per session, including planning and evaluation. Materials can be provided and paid for from Turner’s House.
