Infection Prevention

To provide expert advice and strategic vision across the ICS on the prevention and management of infectious disease and the implementation of infection prevention and control measures. The post holder will provide specialist advice and quality improvement relating to Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) systems in the ICS and work collaboratively alongside UK Health Security Agency colleagues in accordance with Local Outbreak Plans in response to major outbreaks of infectious diseases. The post holder is responsible for the prevention and control of infection through a collaborative system-wide approach with all ICS members, including both commissioning and provider organisations. The post holder will work closely with the ICB Immunisation, Vaccination & Screening Team to have professional/ clinical oversight of the services, to ensure proactive programmes of vaccination and immunisation are in place and attend relevant meetings that require IPC involvement and leadership.

To lead the Strategic Infection prevention and control network in reducing HCAI and improving patient safety To produce reports in a variety of formats as required including the provision of a monthly quality report on system partners. Using evidence in research and benchmarking, the reports will need to highlight good practice along with risks and demonstrate improvements in clinical outcomes, safety and patient experience. To achieve this the post holder must have computer skills. To undertake quality visits to all commissioned services as agreed with the Director of Nursing, including GP, & Pharmacies, Optometry services & Dental services, incorporating IPC in the quality visits, but not solely IPC
