We are also a major funder of applied health research in low
- and middle-income countries.

DHSC contracts directly with a number of NHS Trusts, universities and life science organisations that together host our two coordinating centres:

- NIHR Coordinating Centre (NIHRCC), hosted by Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, the University of Southampton, and LGC.
- Clinical Research Network Coordinating Centre (CRNCC), hosted by a consortium of the University of Leeds and Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.

These two coordinating centres share operational responsibility for the NIHR. Their work is directed by DHSC’s Chief Scientific Adviser and by the Director and Senior Management Team of DHSC's Science Research and Evidence Directorate.

**Job Description**:
As part of the Vaccine Innovation Pathway Programme Management Office team, the Research Programme Officer will support the implementation of new processes to streamline the setup and delivery of new vaccine trials across the UK clinical research system.

The Programme Management Office will lead and support business process redesign to create a Vaccine Innovation Pathway for clinical trials, including:

- Designing a collaborative approach with pharmaceutical companies to ensure early sight of a portfolio of vaccine studies, in order to ensure best fit with UK population and therefore enable greater contribution from UK sites;

- Providing programme management support for innovative projects designed to improve the systems and processes used to deliver vaccine clinical trials across the UK;
- Incorporating engagement with a range of organisations to build in plans for advancing the utilisation of a range of consent-to-contact registries (national and local), data enable recruitment opportunities, and linking with plans to increase public awareness of vaccine research activities and associated diseases.

You will work to support the other members of the Programme Management Office in delivering a robust programme of work. You will work closely with key stakeholders including delivery teams from the NIHR Clinical Research Facilities and NIHR Clinical Research Network (and the successor NIHR Research Delivery Network).

**Qualifications**:
To be successful in this role, you will be able to work with confidence and diplomacy when engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders at various levels of seniority across multiple organisations. You will need excellent interpersonal skills to establish and maintain productive relationships with relevant colleagues across the NIHR and within key partners including pharmaceutical companies. You will need to be able to work to tight deadlines and maintain excellent communications in verbal and written forms with different teams to effectively manage multiple priorities.
