**Applications Engineer**

Industry: Laser, Optics, Manufacturing

Location: Oxford, Oxfordshire

Roles like this don't come around very often where there is an opportunity to join a rapidly expanding business who have strong growth plans over the comping years. You will based in Oxford and although you will have great views over rolling green fieldshowever with exceptional transport links from Oxford commuting isn't an issue. Having said that although you're probably want to be in the office everyday they do offer hybrid and flexible working arrangements. Ideally you will have previous experience of working within some of the following, however it's not essential:

- Optical or laser systems
- Precision instrumentation or precision machinery
- Imaging systems

As an Applications Engineer you will promote the use of the companies systems through bespoke proof-of-concept trials and tailored technology demonstrations. This role includes both technical development and customer facing opportunities; you will becomean internal expert on the possibilities (and limits) of the technology and use this to create compelling demonstrations that meet customers' visions. This is an exciting role which has direct business impact and a wide scope within a scale-up, so there isan opportunity to be involved with all parts of the sales & product development processes.

Working with Product & Engineering Teams you will:

- Become the internal 'power user' of the companies core laser platform technology
- Directly interface with prospective customers to understand their vision
- Clearly communicate possibilities of new and existing systems
- Create compelling demonstrations to drive the sales pipeline
- Plan and execute bespoke proof-of-concept trials for customers in various markets
- Support the Engineering Team with R&D experiments to push the limits of the technology
- Use, modify (and create) microscopes to capture high-quality images of samples

**ABOUT YOU**

We are looking for a creative out-of-the-box thinkers that have a strong technical focus. This role would suit a generalist engineer with an eye for detail who likes to work with a small, collaborative team.

You will be able to demonstrate that you have the following:

- An ability to understand and use complex technical products
- A disciplined approach to design and execution of technical experiments
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- A degree or equivalent experience in technical field is preferred
- Confidence working on hardware systems with programmable components
- An eye for detail and focus on delivering quality
- Proactivity to develop practical solutions for customers

You may also have:

- Experience with optical systems and lasers
- Interest in photography/microphotography, using magnifiers and/or optical microscopes
