VASCULAR SURGERY - AAA Screening Team Leader

An exciting opportunity has been created for an Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) Screening Team Leader within the Staffordshire and South Cheshire AAA Screening Programme. This newly created post will support the Programme Manager and Screening Team based at the Royal Stoke Hospital.

The role includes deputising for the Programme Manager and managing staff to provide an efficient and effective service, also participating in the development of corporate objectives, policies and strategic plans.

The post holder will be a qualified AAA Screening Technician expected to work closely with the Clinical Skills Trainer and develop and co-ordinate the delivery of high-quality training to the team, ensuring training delivery meets programme needs and is delivered professionally and effectively.

The post holder will be expected to manage administration processes, organise their own workload and that of the screening team. Responsible for ensuring optimum use of capacity to deliver the service, and to ensure robust plans are in place to develop and improve the programme in line with new practices.

The ability to travel independently with access to a car (with business insurance) is essential, as the service is community based.

To deputise for the Programme Manager, management of staff and administration processes, to provide an efficient and effective service.

To work closely with the Clinical Skills Trainer to deliver high quality training and abdominal ultrasound scanning as part of the community based National Aortic Aneurysm Screening Programme (NAASP) and ensure that scanning is undertaken to a high standard by the team, in accordance with national standard operating procedures.

This post is offered on a full-time basis (37.5 hours per week) Monday to Friday, with some out of hours and weekend working possible. The post is based at Royal Stoke Hospital with a commitment to cover the service across all sites and for this reason it is essential that the post holder is a car owner with a full clean driving licence.
