Our client specialises in developing, designing and producing test rigs for combustion engines, transmissions and electrical drives, complex testing and assembly systems, as well as devices for leak testing for automotive manufacturers and their suppliers.

**Job purpose**:
The role substantially requires the engineer to hold technical expertise of our software systems and attend our customer sites (automotive OEM’s principally based in the North West and the Midlands) to install and commission our special purpose machine toolsfrom a PLC software perspective.
- You will be responsible for all aspects of PLC software for our bespoke equipment from design, documentation and integration and commissioning and installation at our customers manufacturing plants.
- Working in multi-disciplinary teams (including with customers engineering teams) you will be required to establish excellent relationships with all key stakeholders (both internal and external).
- May provide software development and consultation to customers and/or product capability assessment and validation.

**For success in this role, you will need the following skills**:

- Minimum HNC qualifications in Electrical engineering.
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in manufacturing industry designing and commissioning software for special purpose machine tools in the manufacturing industry.
- In-depth PLC & HMI programming experience are essential: preferably using Siemens S5 and S7. Knowledge of servo Drive programming would be an advantage.
- Knowledge of Electrical, Pneumatic, Hydraulic and mechanical Systems would be an advantage.
- Prior experience is essential for this role as it is the ability to organise your own time, integrate within the team and provide excellent service to customers.
- A flexible approach
- the role has the requirement for travel. Whilst products are designed and manufactured in Essex, they are distributed worldwide but the role would be initially predominantly based in the Midlands/North
