**Job Background**
In an exciting innovation Bryson Charitable Group has developed a collective offering of emergency financial support, short-term mentoring and root cause interventions to families and individuals in crisis by way of creating sustainable change. As part of this initiative Bryson Energy is responsible for the provision of fast paced, time sensitive crisis work to stimulate personalised/family/individual growth.
**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
- The Mentor will be skilled in assessment and planning, will work directly with parents/individuals in their home, community centre, (at times may be online) to establish and achieve short-term goals promoting change. The Mentor will have at their disposal a range of resources provided by the Bryson Charitable Group.
- To quickly establish a rapport with parents/ caregivers /individuals promoting confidence, self-esteem, and the possibility of change.
- Identify obstacles/barriers to change and basic strengths that will facilitate change.
- Establish a change plan in partnership with parent/caregiver/individual and agree a starting point from which to measure progress.
- Identify, introduce, and connect with other practical Bryson resources that will support the change plan, including but not solely assets such as, basic IT, numeracy and literacy training, self-development, fitness and wellness training, child development classes, educational support, and employment opportunities.
- To work in the community and to engage parents/caregivers/individuals, in ‘making your money go further programmes’, including but not solely, ‘shopping and cooking wisely’ ‘energy reduction tips’ and supplying and training in the use of energy efficient kitchen equipment
- To complete the crisis intervention plan and refer on within a maximum of 4- 6 weeks.
**Essential Criteria**:
- Knowledge and/or experience of Community Development Work.
- A full driving license and access to a car. Consideration will be given to alternative travelling proposals in respect of applicants with a disability who cannot hold a license
- Ability/commitment to work flexible hours as required
