Randstad is currently looking for a Traffic Warden to work with Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council. This role is to provide an efficient and effective service of parking enforcement, in order to minimise illegal parking acts through the issue of penalty charge notices in appropriate

Role: Traffic Warden

Location: Merthyr

Pay Rate: £24,294 per annum

Shift Pattern: 37 hour week, but included in this will be early mornings, late evenings and weekend work as deemed necessary (e.g. complaints, events, emergencies, additional cover, etc). Any additional hours would attract additional pay.

**Responsibilities**:

- To patrol either individually or as part of a team, on and off street restrictions as required ensuring that vehicles are complying with appropriate orders
- Serving Penalty Charge notices where vehicles are parked in contravention of the relevant restrictions in accordance with Policies and Procedures using handheld terminals
- To undertake routine inspections of pay and display, machines, general cleanliness, carry out minor maintenance to restocking tickets and reporting defects that cannot be rectified to Senior Civil Enforcement Officer
- To check on defective traffic signs (e.g. damaged, worn or obscured) and road marching related to parking restrictions and reporting defects as required to Senior Civil Enforcement Officer
- Liaise with Senior Civil Enforcement at all times about the operational problems and other issues relating to the efficient running of enforcement

Essential Requirements:

- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of public safety and security
- Legal knowledge including court procedures and government regulations
- To be able to carry out basic tasks on a computer or hand-held device
