The Research and Statistics team at GL Education is looking for an additional Statistician to join the team in a range of exciting assessment and research projects.

**JOB SUMMARY**

The role is an important function within the organisation, contributing to GL Education's reputation as a leader in its field, ensuring assessments are fit for purpose, supporting the development of new assessments and data services, and conducting technical reviews of GL Education's current assessment portfolio. This Statistician will be expected to conduct statistical analysis, supporting and advising on data collation, sampling and modelling across a range of internal and external projects.

**PRIMARY DUTIES**:

- Conduct statistical analysis of research and assessment data:

- contribute to analysis services provided to clients such as Multi Academy Trusts, International School groups and Ministries around the world
- support on internal educational research activities based on large assessment datasets
- Provide expert input into internally and externally authored assessment content and associated reporting and analytics
- Advise on the designing and carrying out of statistical analysis of trials and standardisation projects for current and new assessment products
- Devise and contribute to statistical elements of proposals and project design, including estimating associated costs
- Ensure statistical quality assurance procedures are in place and fit for purpose
- Maintain records of analyses carried out, and documentation of the technical specifications of the GL Education assessment portfolio
- Attend training courses, seminars or conferences as required by the role and agreed with the line manager
- Present analyses to external audiences where required
- Provide statistical training and instruction to GL Education staff where required; assist with the professional development of the statistics team
- Conducting other professional duties from time to time, as directed by the Head of Research

**SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE**:
**Essential**:

- A broad knowledge and understanding of applied statistical methods
- An understanding and ability to use classical test theory and item response theory
- Good organisational skills with ability to prioritise own work and work independently to meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate statistical ideas and results to a non-technical audience and confidently deal with queries over the phone with external users
- Experience of multivariate analysis
- Ability to present analyses to external and internal audiences, and communicate clearly to a variety of audiences

**Desirable**:

- Experience of sampling methodology and the analysis of hierarchical data
- Experience in managing staff

**EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS**

**Essential**:

- A Degree in Statistics or equivalent.
- Relevant experience with analytical software, including SPSS and R, as well as other software packages such as Winsteps
- A minimum of 3 years practical/applied experience is required (5 years for a more senior position)
- Experienced use

**Desirable**:

- Post graduate study with a high statistics component
- Background in education

This position offers salary up to £70,000 p/a depending on experience and it is based on hybrid basis from our London office.
