**About the role**

We are looking for **a Tree Officer on a permanent basis** to join our Environmental Services team. This role is a home-based role but involves frequent travel across our Neighbourhoods and you will attend the office as and when required.

The Purpose of role is to assist the Arboriculture Manager in the surveying and management of tree stock across the Onward geography, ensuring effective risk management compliance and works to the highest arboriculture standards.

**Customer Service**

Be responsible for tree related enquiries managing customer expectations to ensure high levels of customer service. Promote the benefits of trees to customers and communicate effectively Onward policies and procedures.

**Data Management**

Produce through tree surveys both a reactive and proactive works programme for the in-house tree team, which delivers the objectives of the service. Under the direction of the Arboriculture Manager, utilise technology (e.g. GPS systems) to develop and maintain tree survey information and other information as required.

**Performance Measurement**

Carry out tree surveys as directed to ensure that the trees are healthy, safe and not causing any damages to the environment. and make recommendations for work required.

Undertake audits on completed works and site safety audits on contractors/ the in-house team to produce key performance indicators (KPI’s).

**Developing Service**

You will utilise technology (e.g. GPS systems) to develop and maintain tree survey information and other information as required. You will assist the Arboriculture Manager in the delivery of tree management across the Onward geography for both Onward and external customers, ensuring all requirements, including legal and health & safety, are met and provide support to development work through appropriate inputs as required.

**Health and Safety**

Responsibility to ensure all health and safety policies and procedures for the Arboriculture team are in place and completed, including LOLER and PUWER, RAMS.

**What we require?**
- Good level of written and verbal communication competency.
- IT skills - Microsoft office to Intermediate level
- Experience of using GPS / GIS equipment and software effectively.
- Experience of excelling in a customer focussed environment.
- Ability to work both under direction and autonomously, organising workload and prioritising tasks.
- Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

**Desirable**
- Management and control of Invasive Specie
- BS5837 report writing.
- Knowledge and experience of service contracts and their effective management and administration.
- Good commercial understanding of value for money and budget management.
- Experience of partnership working with external agencies.

**Essential**:

- Degree in Arboriculture or Level 5 qualification equivalent.
