**The Site **Dover College is a highly successful co-educational, boarding and day school with circa 300 pupils currently on roll.

**The Department **The ultimate responsibility of the Maintenance Team is to ensure that Dover College’s buildings and grounds provide a safe and comfortable teaching and learning environment. Ensuring that repairs are promptly identified and carried out and routine maintenance and checks are carried out as and when scheduled.

**The Role **This role requires a high degree of flexibility as alongside the responsibilities and core tasks that are within your job description are multiple diverse supportive activities for across all of our support services teams at Dover College. Applicants must be able to demonstrate skills in at least one of the following areas: painting and decorating (distinct advantage), plumbing, carpentry, electrical.

Being highly visible and interacting with a wide spectrum of individuals (teachers, parents, pupils and contractors) this role requires you to be presentable, personable, service orientated and a strong communicator.

The current team, reporting to the Estates Manager work very closely together, tasks are allocated and shared amongst the team. This is a “tight knit” and mutually supportive team who work effectively as a unit and represent the College well.

This is a permanent position offered on a full time basis, 40 hours a week. The working hours will be 0730 - 1630 Monday to Friday. Occasional weekend and bank holiday working may be required for which time off in lieu will be offered.

The start date for this position is ASAP.

**Your Responsibilities**
- Conducting repairs and maintenance in school which may include painting and decorating, plumbing, carpentry and general maintenance tasks (where skills are present).
- Ensuring that the boiler and plant rooms are always in a clean and tidy state.
- Escorting contractors on site where required.
- Conduct routine water hygiene tests for completing the necessary records and escalating any irregular results.
- Conduct some work at heights for example changing light bulbs and painting.
- Helping to ensure that the appearance of the school and grounds are maintained in a good condition in line with direction from the Estates Manager
- Participate in training and undertake any performance development activities as required for the position.
- Assist the Estates Manager to ensure the efficient and safe use of the school premises.
- Carry out maintenance, ongoing repairs and odd job work as requested by the Estates Manager.
