**About the team**:
We are a diverse, high-performing and highly-engaged in-house legal team. We have an excellent reputation for being both skilled technical legal advisers and pragmatic business facilitators. As part of the Group Legal, Company Secretariat and Environmental,Social and Governance team, we advise clients throughout the business (including at Executive Committee and Board level) on the broad range of strategic and operational legal matters that arise from a successful and growing specialist lender / retail savingsbank.

Our core legal practices are each led by a dedicated senior technical specialist across the Savings, Mortgages/Real Estate, Capital Markets, Commercial/Litigation, Corporate, Data Protection and Projects areas.

We have lawyers in the Group's offices in Chatham, Wolverhampton and London and we gain huge benefits from working together in person in these offices, balanced with hybrid home working. We use technology to connect across offices to operate the team efficiently,to share knowledge at regular team meetings and to advise the business as a unified legal team, regardless of location. **What you will be doing**:
In this role, you will have the opportunity to assit the Group on legal and regulatory matters relating to retail and commercial mortgages, conveyancing, and other aspects of retail and commercial lending operations as well as real estate.

Your responsibilities will also include
- Advising the Group on all aspects of Residential, Buy-to-let and 2nd Charge Mortgages law and regulation, lending operations and mortgage servicing, conveyancing and other legal aspects of secured lending
- Ensuring legal risk in the Group is adequately identified, mitigated and reported in the course of giving advice
- Working within the Legal team to monitor and report on changes in legislation
- Providing any other legal assistance that is required by the Group General Counsel & Company Secretary Group Heads of Legal and Senior Legal Counsels across a broad range of matters including assessing and reporting to senior management on legal risk acrossthe business
- Attending and representing the Bank, if required, at relevant external forums.

We are looking for talented individuals who have the experience and knowledge set out below:

- Qualified Solicitor of England and Wales and holds current SRA practising certificate. Knowledge of the law and regulation/regulatory guidance around retail mortgage lending and Real Estate is essential.
- Knowledge of property conveyancing, particularly in relation to mortgage lending is essential.
