**About The Role**:

**About the role**

We are hoping to welcome an approachable and knowledgeable Dementia Adviser to join our team in York. The role involves one to one support for people affected by Dementia and their Carers. You will complete group delivery, supporting and encourage people affected by dementia to engage in activities and socialise with others in a group setting. There will also be opportunities to be involved in events across the city, such as dementia action week.

This role is community based, providing dementia support and advice, introducing new initiatives and facilitate groups in York. You will be expected to travel around the city (travel expenses can be claimed) however there will also be some homeworking elements. You will support our amazing volunteers, including their role managements, training and the recruitment of new volunteers.

You will be joining us at a very exciting time as we embark on delivering a targeted service working in partnership with Age UK York.

**About you**

You will have:

- The ability to assess client needs.
- An understanding of the need for client confidentiality.
- Excellent non-judgmental communication skills.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Good IT skills and experience working with databases.
- Have demonstrable experience.
- An empathetic approach with a commitment to equal opportunity.
- The ability to travel independently across York.
