This is a fixed term contract/secondment which will run until 31/03/2025.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

The Deputy Centre Manager for the Centre of Health Innovation is responsible for maintaining and developing a Centre of Health Innovation, which will be hosted by BCU on behalf of Wales. The Centre will support innovation through technology. It will work across all Health Sectors to identify priorities for challenges and develop / test innovative solutions e.g. identify priorities for unmet needs and work with stakeholders to meet these needs.

The post holder will have a wide range of responsibilities and clear objectives that they will be responsible for delivering. This will include leading and assisting the Head of Challenge Led Innovation on the creation of business plans for the Centre, identifying existing networks and creating new networks who can support the centres objectives or identifying and working closely with stakeholders who can benefit from the centres resources.

This is a role that carries significant leadership responsibility and autonomy. The Deputy Centre Manager will understand and promote the Small Business Research Initiative portfolio. They will be a strong leader, demonstrating the ability to deliver against performance targets and objectives. They will ensure that the centre involves social, voluntary and other agencies as appropriate in the delivery and development of centre.

The post holder is accountable for the delivery of the proposal for the Centre of Health Innovation.:
- Resourcing the centre to meet its objectives e.g. undertaken recruitment and developed and delivered staff training programmes.
- Promoted the centre and improved the awareness of the SBRI portfolio.
- Worked with stakeholders to agree principles and “success” criteria for challenges and developed metrics for measurements of success e.g. benefits.
- Gained “signup” and commitment from multiple stakeholders e.g. Third Sector partners, Public Health Wales, Public Bodies, Procurement, NHS Wales Informatics Service, Digital Eco System, Life Sciences Hub.
- Collaborated with other bodies to identify, deliver or support challenges
- Developed service level agreements where appropriate e.g. timescales and costs for interfaces to national products.
- Developed and gained approval for business plans that include clear deliverables for future years.

Planning and Strategy
- The post holder, in conjunction with multiple stakeholders leads on the identification of challenges for the Centre and on planning for all of the services, which are required to support the challenges.
- They will work closely with stakeholders to ensure that operational plans and centre strategy are consistent with National Health objectives and priorities and that the aims of the centre are fully supported. For example, the post holder will support the delivery of the Future Generations Act and Prosperity for All agenda. They will ensure that Public bodies, voluntary agencies and Private industry are working collaboratively and differently across multiple boundaries and multiple sectors.
- The post holder is responsible for the implementation of the strategic direction of the Centre through the delivery of operational plans. They will support and influence a positive commitment to the centres agenda and embed continuous improvement within the heart of all plans.
