Groundsperson/gardener

Ashton Recruitment requires a Grounds person for our client based in Lisburn

Job Title: Grounds person

Location: Lisburn

Duration: Temporary

Rate of pay: £11.81 per hour

Hours: 37 per week

Duties include (but are not limited to):

- Safe, effective and appropriate use and daily maintenance (inspection, fuel, oil, fault reporting) of grounds maintenance equipment and machinery in line with Council Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.
- Mobile grass cutting operations. Soil cultivation, fertilizing, site preparation and construction labouring. Horticultural operations such as the planting of trees, shrubs perennials, annuals and bulbs as directed.
- Driving large agricultural tractors and articulated vehicles e.g. van and trailer, as and when required
- Maintaining all records relevant to the post and undertaking of all duties in accordance with all Council Health and Safety Policies and Procedures including Risk Assessment, Manual Handling, PPE, CoSHH etc., and participation in all relevant Training programmes.

Essential Criteria:
It is essential that applicants have a minimum of:

- Two years’ employment experience in a horticulture and grounds maintenance environment in at least one of the following areas:

- Sports Pitch Maintenance(grass)
- Cemetery Maintenance
- Golf course Maintenance
- Horticultural Maintenance (Floral)
- Demonstrate a good understanding of Grounds Maintenance
- Awareness of Health & Safety issues
- Be physically fit and capable of carrying out wide range of manual tasks across any Council controlled site.
- A full current driving licence valid in the UK
