Job overview
- As a Domestic Assistant you will be responsible for keeping wards, offices, and public areas clean to a high standard. You will work as part of the domestic service team, as well as part of the wider community within the hospital setting._

**_ Working Hours -_**_ There is typically a combination of full-time and part-time roles available, and you are more than likely to have a set shift pattern._
- Monday to Friday 13:45 - 20:00 - 30hrs with 15 mins break_

**_ Entry Requirements -_**_ There is no entry requirement to become a domestic _assistant, however you maybe required to complete NVQ Level 1 in cleaning. _

**_Training -_**_ When you start as a domestic you will attend an induction and all relevant training will be given._

**_ Communication skills_**_ - You will need good communication skills as well as caring and sensitive nature. _

**_Physical Fitness -_**_ There is a physical component to working as a domestic assistant as you may be on your feet for long periods of time. A combination of physical fitness and knowledge of proper lifting and manual handling techniques allows you to properly perform the full range of your duties._

Main duties of the job
- Domestic Assistant are responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleaning in line with infection prevention._
- _You will work from a daily/weekly schedule in both clinical and none-clinical areas, making sure that the hospital is clean, and that patients have a pleasant and safe stay._
- _As a domestic assistant you're likely to perform a range of duties that include:_
- _Cleaning patients or service user’s room/ward_
- Cleaning toilets and bathroom areas_
- Cleaning communal areas, such as lounges, dining areas and corridors_
- Clean utility room_
- Carry out deep-cleaning operations in certain areas._
- Use the most appropriate cleaning equipment for the task, this may include vacuum cleaner, mops, or electric floor cleaner._
- Using cleaning products and other chemicals safely and effectively_
- Keep up to date with safety procedures for example, fire procedures and escape routes and undertake appropriate workplace training._

Professional Duties

You will be responsible for the following within this position:

- Carrying out specific cleaning and other related duties to set procedures and standards.
- Ensure infection control policies are adhered to
- Work as part of a team, using a degree of initiative to prioritise and organise the daily duties, whilst always maintaining a professional approach.
- Ensure the cleanliness of clinical and non-clinical areas is maintained to the required standard
