Edinburgh, United Kingdom First Psychology Ltd Full time

**Background and Purpose of Role**

First Psychology is a leading independent provider of counselling, psychological therapies and wellbeing interventions. We have expanded rapidly over the last five years and now operate 13 centres across Scotland and Northern England in addition to an online portal (First Psychology Online) providing a range of services to clients. We provide services to self-referred clients (direct to consumer) who include individual adults, couples, families and children. We also operate a growing and commercially focused B2B service, First Psychology Assistance, providing therapy, training and consultancy to businesses, organisations and legal referrers. Our current clients include those in the finance, oil and gas, professional services and education sectors.

First Psychology is a pluralistic, dynamic therapy practice. In recent years we have invested significantly in the development of our own advanced skills academy and online CPD training institute. In October 2024 we are launching our own part-time professional training Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychological Therapy (DICPT), benchmarked at SCQF level 11 (postgraduate). To help us launch and deliver this we are now seeking a skilled and experienced practitioner to oversee the final stages of programme development, ensure its effective delivery and work as part of a team towards its professional accreditation. This is a fantastic opportunity for the right person to join our growing organisation.

The DICPT programme combines a training in humanistic/person-centred therapy with the principles of ‘relationally-informed’ CBT models (compassion-focused therapy/acceptance and commitment therapy). It has been developed by a team of practitioners within First Psychology from counselling and applied psychology backgrounds, all of whom are committed to the importance of pluralistic principles and therapeutic excellence. The post-holder will become a key part of this development team and will lead the delivery of the programme once launched.

The planned nature of the programme will require the post-holder to be available to work some weekends (up to 8 per year), some Thursday evenings, (7-9pm) and to be part of the team supporting a week-long professional development retreat each year. It will be possible to combine this role with a clinical practice within First Psychology as an employed clinician or in a self-employed clinical role with us.

**Purpose of the role**:

- To support the final stages of the management and development of the Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychological Therapy (DICPT) toward its launch in October 2024
- To undertake the lead academic role in the management and delivery of the DICPT programme once launched, including leading a team of tutors/facilitators and working collaboratively with management and administrative support staff
- To work collaboratively with all colleagues and contributors to ensure an excellent

student learning experience.
- To monitor, review and enhance programme content and delivery toward successful accreditation of the programme with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

**Accountabilities/Responsibilities**

**Programme launch**
- To hold academic responsibility for the finalisation of programme and module specifications, governance/monitoring systems as part of the launch process
- To work as part of the launch team to ensure all appropriate academic and programme management systems are in place prior to launch
- To ensure information for students about the programme prior to launch is accurate and complies with programme and module descriptor documents
- To provide advice and guidance to students on programme content and approach

**Programme management and leadership**
- To oversee the design and delivery of teaching materials for the programme and modules, including the curriculum review and enhancement in a manner that supports and meets the learning outcomes.
- To work with the programme management board to ensure programme quality and effectiveness at all times
- To oversee the setting, marking and verification of student assessments and examination activities on the programme, including the provision of appropriate feedback to students to meet internal and external expectations
- To ensure high standards of student experience through effective programme development and delivery once launched
- To work with administration and support colleagues to ensure the effective management of placements including liaison with placement providers on where appropriate
- To support and monitor key academic performance indicators, attendance, retention and achievement for the programme are achieved
- To work flexibly and responsibly and undertake any other duties relevant to the level of the post
- To liaise with the programme external examiner and student representatives on all matters linked to programme content, delivery and outcomes
