**DFM Engineer, Woodstock, £45,000 - £50,000pa depending on experience plus benefits**:

Reporting to the Process Engineering Manager, the DFM (Design for Manufacture) Engineer is responsible for working alongside R&D to ensure new products are suitable for our production environment, by developing appropriate processes, instructions, jigs,and testing for manufacture/configuration of new products. The role will also cover product life cycle management including obsolescence and cover maintenance, improvement and running of various R&D test equipment including our temperature-controlled calibrationtables.

**About you**:
The successful DFM Engineer will ideally be degree educated or equivalent in a relevant Engineering Discipline and will hold proven experience in the below areas.

**General**
- Ensure that test processes and facilities are in place and available to test production quantities.
- Ensure that the relevant test processes are established, and records are recorded and reported where appropriate.
- Create bill of materials (BoM) and ensure drawings are accurate and complete for products being introduced into production.
- Perform internal and external design acceptance tests at both a system and component level.

**Production**
- Work with the R&D and Production teams to optimise Production processes.
- Measure, analyse, and report First Time Pass Yield (FTPY) of manufacturing and calibration/test processes to produce action plans that remove defects and improve production efficiency.
- Mechanical design of simple test jigs for use in production processes or testing.
- Work with R&D and Production teams to incorporate lessons learned, develop existing processes, and create new processes to correct defects and prevent new occurrences.
- Oversee FTPY of product in first year after being introduced into Production, monitor in field performance/issues, and feed back into the engineering design process.

**New Product Development**
- Handle the pre-production processes for all new product development projects in R&D making sure that the product is suitable for production and managing the handover with production to ensure they are a satisfied customer of the project.
- Work with the R&D teams from the outset of new product development (NPD) projects to ensure designs are suited, and processes are developed to manufacture and test product in large quantities.
- Manage new product introduction (NPI) into production ensuring that BoMs and diagrams are available and suitable for communicating with suppliers. Establish work instructions for build and test of new products.

**Purchasing**
- Through the initial product design stage, ensure that parts are readily available and are likely to remain available for the foreseeable lifecycle of the product.
- Support the Purchasing team to manage parts obsolescence, identify alternative suppliers for dual sourcing, improve quality and cost down initiatives.
- Address obsolescence issues by identifying and approving alternatives and perform simple PCB re-designs where required.
- Work with the R&D and Purchasing teams to identify component suppliers who can deliver production quantities on time, to the correct quality, at the right price.

**Process and Procedure**
- Develop and maintain design guidelines and checklists for R&D. These should cover electronics, mechanical and test automation designs.
- Use company procedures, processes, and consistent styles.
- Write, issue and update hardware documentation using version control.

**Other**
- Assist with R&D projects and Production activities where appropriate.
- Other duties as assigned.

The successful DFM Engineer would ideally have prior experience of working with electronic components, with a good understanding of design designs. They will also have ideally been involved in the continuous development of product design, including the introductionof new products and improvements to existing products.

Our client is offering an excellent salary of £45,000 - £50,000 depending on experience. In addition, the role is eligible for a discretionary profit share bonus which will be at the absolute discretion of the company. Holiday entitlement is 27 days plusbank holidays. The holiday year runs from 1st July to 30th June.
