**Science Teacher**

**Location**:St Albans

**Salary**: £375 per week

**Job Type**:Part Time, Temporary Fixed Contract (Until 5th May 2023)

**The Role**

The main purpose of this job is to teach Science to a group of junior students, using materials appropriate to the students and course type.

**Teaching**
- Prepare lessons using appropriate materials as required to meet student needs
- Use classroom technology to enhance students’ learning experience
- Effectively manage students and their behaviour (with the support of the AMT)
- Encourage student participation through a positive and enthusiastic attitude about activities in which they are involved
- Teach morning and afternoon on May 1st, May 3rd, and May 5th (AM lessons only)
- Provide testing when/if required.
- Teach demonstration lessons for agents/potential students as arranged with the AMT

**Administrative**
- Attend weekly staff meetings
- Keep an accurate record of student attendance and lateness
- Monitor student attendance and alert the AMT to any absences where required
- Complete student reports by the Wednesday before the end of their course and at any other times requested by the AMT
- Complete any other administrative tasks required for the effective operation of the school

**Other**
- Attend staff induction prior to the start of the contract
- Complete welfare and safeguarding training, and any other non-teaching training required
- Be a positive and professional role model for the students, representing the core values of OIEG
- Attend CPD sessions provided by OIEG
- Dress appropriately for the role at all times
- Abide by the school systems and procedures as outlined in the Teacher Manual
- Contribute positively to the inclusive atmosphere of the school by working collaboratively with students and staff

**Skills & Qualifications**
- Eligibility to live and work in the UK
- Undergo an Enhanced DBS disclosure check or overseas equivalent
- Educated to degree level - STEM
- Experience of working in residential summer schools for juniors
- Knowledge of seasonal, residential language programmes for juniors
- Teaching experience for at least 1 years
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
- Able to build rapport and credibility quickly
- Strong IT skills with a sound knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to organize and prioritise a varied workload
- Proven ability to work to deadlines and work under pressure
- An excellent eye for detail and the ability to work accurately and efficiently
- Adopts a highly professional and mature approach to work, recognising the need to maintain confidentiality with sensitive data
