The Matron will be accountable for the efficient and effective operational management of the nursing workforce, guaranteeing provision of high quality evidence based nursing practice which will be delivered within their portfolio. The Matron will be strong clinical leader, easily identifiable, highly visible and accessible to patients, carers and staff. They will have a particular responsibility to support the development of Clinical Governance and Service Improvement. The Matron will act as an excellent role model to all staff championing the highest of standards and professionalism within the nursing workforce.
