Assistant Herdsperson

**Assistant Herdsperson Required for Robotic Milking Unit near Gloucester**

We have an exciting position for a full time Assistant Herdsperson to assist us at Church Farm with the day to day management of the dairy herd and youngstock.

We milk 220 cows through 4 Lely robots with an average yield of 12,000 litres per cow per year.

Milk is sold to Sainsburys on a premium contract requiring high standards of animal welfare and cleanliness.

Automatic scrapers and footbaths.

AI & hoof care are contracted out to Genus and a local foot trimmer.

Calf health is overseen by a vet tech on a weekly basis.

**Duties to include**:

- Herd management - requiring a good level of IT skills
- Diligent record keeping
- Calf rearing
- Some tractor work as required
- Assisting with night call outs on a rota basis

**Experience preferred. Further training provided as required.**

**Good time keeping is essential and a can do attitude is important.**

**We are firm believers in a good work/life balance and regular time off is important.**

**Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum depending on experience.**
