**The vacancy**

**Are you a qualified Early years Practitioner who is experienced in supporting young children aged 3-5 flourish and grow? We are looking for a friendly, caring and nurturing individual to join our dedicated team at The Centre Playgroup.**

**Job purpose**:

- To work as an effective member of a team, delivering a flexible, high quality, early learning and child care service that meets the individual needs of young children and their families.

**Terms of employment**
- You will work from 8am to 3pm, Monday - Friday for a maximum of 190 days per academic year during Term Time only.
- You may be required to attend up to 5 in-service days for staff and team development.
- New employees will undertake a 6-months’ probation period.

**Job Outline: Early Years Practitioner**:

- Responsible for a Key Group of children.

**- **Carry out observations on your group to support and nurture their interests and learning.
- Responsible for the planning and delivery of activities which meet the individual developmental needs of children.
- Monitor, track and record children’s development and wellbeing through Personal Care Plan and Learning Profiles.
- Liaise with parents/carers regarding their child’s developmental progress.
- Responsible in assisting in the daily setting up, clear away and running of the playroom
- Participate in development planning and policy review
- Participate in Planning and Monitoring the Curriculum

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
- Provide and maintain welcoming, safe, fun, stimulating and hygienic environment for children.
- Responsible for promoting and safeguarding the rights and wellbeing of children.
- Observe, monitor and interact with children to enhance their learning.
- Ensure children’s learning and development is tracked and imputed appropriately online and in personal files.
- Build and maintain good working relationships with parents and carers.
- Communicate and work collaboratively and in partnership with children, parents/carers team members and other agencies.
- Assist in Welcoming and seeing off children.
- Attend training and development courses as agreed with the Nursery Manager
- Effectively contribute at staff meetings.
- Assist in all creating communications, newsletter etc. to ensure that parents/carers are kept informed of group activities (as appropriate).
- Carry out all duties with due regard to the health and safety of all group users, staff and visitors.
- Such other duties as may from time to time be agreed with the Nursery Manager and or committee.

**Person Specification**

1. **Experience**:

- Previous experience of working with young children in an Early Years setting.

2. **Educational Qualifications** - Those employed as an Early Years Practitioner are required to hold a relevant Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) registration or agree to register as a practitioner.

**3. Skills/Attributes General**
- Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
- Good interpersonal and social skills with the ability to relate and communicate with adults and children.

- Good working knowledge of current Scottish Government good practice Frameworks, Standards and Documentation including:

- Curriculum for Excellence, National Care Standards, HGIOELC, Realising the Ambition,
- Good working knowledge of implementing current quality standards required by Care Inspectorate, Education Scotland and other relevant bodies.
- Confidence in using a wide range of technologies.
- First aid certificate is preferred along with a clean UK driving license.
