With world-wide credibility for first-class teaching and research, a plethora of accolades and a proud tradition of producing graduates who go on to be experts in their field, DJCAD offers a strong academic and creative culture that supports and encourages personal development in teaching and scholarship.
We are recruiting for an exceptional individual to join us as a Lecturer in Architecture within our team, to contribute to the development of the teaching, scholarship and research agendas, philosophy and strategies of the institution.
The post-holder will be expected to lead the delivery of modules, actively contribute to teaching in Urban Planning and also enrich the wider academic community of DJCAD. The post-holder will contribute to teaching on the MA and MSc Urban Planning courses, and develop research-led teaching in their specific area of expertise. You may also be expected to make a contribution to modules that are shared with students on other courses.
- Use innovative teaching methods to deliver high quality and effective teaching at all levels in urban planning programmes to equip students with the skills, attributes and experience required for their future careers.
- Undertake the responsibilities associated with the role of being a Module Leader at both undergraduate and postgraduate level as required.
- Actively contribute to the management and operation of the University through participation in Committees and Working Groups and in team meetings.
Who we’re looking for:
- Extensive knowledge of theory and practice in Urban Planning
- Experience of teaching a Higher Education environment, preferably at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
- An in-depth knowledge of a range of appropriate skills such as (but not limited to): the practice and teaching of urban planning.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills enabling the development of effective working relationships with students and colleagues.
- Well-developed organisational skills and the ability to adjust priorities in the face of competing demands and tight deadlines.
