At East Claydon Church of England school we are looking to appoint a preschool assistant and wrap around care assistant
who has the desire to promote a love of learning through play and can be part of an amazing team.

This post is open to both experienced playworkers and those with no school experience

**About the role**:
To work as part of the pre-school team, ensuring children’s wellbeing is at the heart of all your work and taking personal responsibility for their care and learning, as well as contributing to the effective and efficient operation of our setting.

Main duties and responsibilities

Care and supervision of children to include:

- To safeguard and promote the welfare of all children.
- To inform the Designated Safeguarding Lead of any concerns about individual children or adults.
- To support the pre-school class of children working with guidance and direction of the pre-school leader.
- To work as an active and collaborative member of the whole school team.
- To take the role of key person for named pre-school children.
- To plan, assess and lead daily teaching and learning activities for the pre-school children.
- To work with individual children to support their needs following guidance and direction from the pre-school leader and SENCO.
- To supervise groups of children in classrooms or the outside learning environment.
- To assess children’s achievements within the Early Years Foundation Stage and provide feedback to parents and staff.
- To supervise groups of children using the cloakroom or toilets.
- To assist children who require changing.
- To administer routine first aid treatment when required to do so.
- To prepare materials, resources, teaching aids and displays within the setting.
- To maintain a tidy and safe environment.
- To follow daily routines, procedures and policies.
- To update individual children’s learning journeys through Tapestry.
- To write termly reports to parents and encourage them to attend parent meetings to build up strong home/school partnerships with your key families.
- To attend as and when required EY staff meetings.
- To attend required training.
- To set the pre-school environment up before the morning session begins and clear up at the end of the day.

The duties of the post may vary from time to time without changing the general character of the post or the level of responsibility.

Qualifications:
NVQ Level 2 or 3 or equivalent qualification in Childcare (E)
Qualification in First Aid (D)
Qualification in Food Hygiene (D)

Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (D)
Good communication skills (E)
Understanding of equal opportunities (E)
Knowledge of safeguarding principles and practice (D)
Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements (D)

**Experience**:
Experience of working with children within the 2 to 7 year old age range (D)
Previous experience of working within an Early Years environment (D)
Experience of working within a school environment (D)
Experience of working within a team (D)

Competencies:
A genuine love of working with children (E)
An ability to make learning interesting and enjoyable (E)
An ability to work well within a team (E)
