BASED IN BRACKNELL HOSPITAL

To provide an effective and well organised clerical service to the Haemodialysis Unit staff and patients. To ensure that stocks and stores are maintained, in order to promote a seamless service to our patients.

To organise daily patient transport services to and from the Unit and to the Out Patient Department.

Has a warm and friendly attitude when welcoming visitors and patients to the unit.

Act as receptionist including answering the telephone, sorting the mail, recording messages where appropriate and ensuring that information is acted on promptly.

To assist the Unit Sister and staff as required to meet the administrative needs of the service.

Maintain a record system for the movement of medical and haemodialysis notes, patient admissions, and dialysis treatment numbers.

Liaise with ambulance control with regard to booking transport services for the patients coming to, and leaving the unit.

Ensure that the Ambulance Trust have current up to date patient details.

Assist nurse in charge in booking beds for admissions and investigations.

Anticipate needs of unit with regard to stocks and stores.

Process invoices, and liaise with the procurement department as required.

Maintain records as required.

Assist nursing staff in the clerical aspects of organising holiday dialysis.

Photocopy and distribute documents as required.

Maintain filing systems of results and letters into patient notes.

Prepare patient notes for clinic and Annual Review appointments, set up new patient notes as required.

Liaise with other hospital departments and colleagues where required.

Other duties as required by the unit Sister and Lead Sister.

Participate in Unit meetings, and the Clinical Governance processes as part of team

PRINCIPALRESPONSIBILITES

1. 1.Act as receptionist including answering the telephone, sorting the mail, recording messages where appropriate and ensuring that information is acted on promptly.

1. Attend to and direct visitors throughout the hospital and department.

1. To assist the Unit Sister and staff as required to meet the administrative needs of the service.

1. Maintain a record system for the movement of medical and haemodialysis notes, patient admissions, and dialysis treatment numbers.

1. Maintain haemodialysis statistical records as on a daily/weekly/monthly basis for contractual purposes and for the information department.

1. Liaise with ambulance control with regard to booking transport services for the patients coming to, and leaving the unit.

1. Ensure that the Ambulance Trust have current up to date patient details. To develop a knowledge of patient transport needs, including geographical and logístical

aspects, attending and participating in Haemodialysis/Ambulance Trust meetings to ensure the best possible service for our patients. Carry out Transport audits on a 3 monthly basis.

1. Assist with the processing and data entry of computerised patient information where necessary.

1. Assist nurse in charge in booking beds for admissions and investigations.

1. Anticipate needs of unit with regard to stocks and stores.

1. Process invoices, and liaise with the procurement department as required. Raise petty cash, and process endowment fund payments.

1. Maintain records as required.

1. Assist nursing staff in the clerical aspects of organising holiday dialysis.

1. Photocopy and distribute documents as required.

1. Maintain filing systems of results and letters into patient notes.

1. Prepare patient notes for clinic and Annual Review appointments, set up new patient notes as required.

1. Liaise with other hospital departments and colleagues where required.

1. Other duties as required by the unit Sister and Lead Sister.
