NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
The Greenspace Officer will be based at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH), however the role will cover all sites across NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde (NHS GGC). The role will oversee a strategic approach to the development, management and utilisation of the NHS GGC outdoor estate to improve its green and blue spaces, connectivity and contribution to the health and wellbeing of patients, staff and the communities in which it is situated. This will involve developing relationships and effective working partnerships with a wide range of NHS staff, organisations and groups; leading and supporting the efficient and effective development and delivery of specific programmes and projects; supporting and coordinating the activities of partners; managing internal budget resources and external funding; to the enhance the strategic development of Greenspace, Biodiversity and Public Realm across NHS GGC.
The Sustainability Department sits within the Estates & Facilities Directorate and is responsible the delivery and NHS Scotland’s Sustainability Policy obligations, ensuring that NHS GGC meets and exceeds its statutory obligations. You will be expected to assist in the development of Sustainability communications campaign for all greenspace, biodiversity related issues and topics. It is essential you are educated to degree level or equivalent in Landscape Architecture. GIS, Health Science, or related discipline. Minimum 2 - 3 years post-graduate experience and working towards, or have a desire to become a Chartered Member of a relevant Institute. Experience in Planning, Urban Design, Public Realm and Parkland Projects, stakeholder engagement and demonstrable report writing experience is desirable. The hours of this post are worked Monday to Friday as part of a 37.5 hour week
