Gemmologist/jewellery Cataloguer

**Busy Suffolk auction house, specialising in jewellery and other luxury and collectable goods are seeking a qualified, experienced Jewellery Cataloguer with a strong background in gemmology, to join their expanding team of experts.**

We welcome applicants with a sound knowledge of methods for authenticating and valuing jewellery items including gemstones and metals along with the ability to accurately identify various gemstones based on their physical and optical properties.

Must be familiar with gemmological equipment, including, but not limited to, microscope, spectroscope, refractometer, polariscope, dichroscope.

**The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate the following**:
Knowledge and understanding of the jewellery industry with valuation and cataloguing experience and an awareness of current jewellery trends such as metal finishes, materials, and gemstone colours.

Liaise with clients wishing to consign or sell jewellery and possess the ability to confidently carry out insurance/probate valuations and sales.

Ability to collaborate and work alongside other team members and departments, therefore good communication skills are important as are strong interpersonal skills.

Communicate effectively with clients and assist them in making informed decisions.

Show good attention to detail and possess strong organisational skills.

Be proficient/familiar in Microsoft Excel or similar.

**Salary**: From £13.50 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 37.5 per week
