A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a **Legal Assistant** based in our **Edgware** office. The role will involve assisting with Lending matters and Conveyancing matters. This particular team enjoys a high volume and variety of instructions from businesses throughout England and Wales.
No day is the same in our Lending and Conveyancing Department and we are looking for someone who is proactive, strives to work in a fast-paced environment and is not afraid of being an integral part of the business.
Ideally, you will have some experience working within a similar role. However, applicants who are enthusiastic about joining the legal profession in an administrative role and are keen to learn, are also welcome to apply.
**The role will include, but is not limited to, the following duties**:
**Lending**
- Deducing information from the instructions to create loan documents including an offer letter, mortgage deed and various other documents using standard templates.
- Dealing with all completion matters of loans including setting up Telegraphic Transfers of completion monies to borrower’s solicitors; upon completion, drawing up an invoice for our fees, filling out the accounting ledgers for each individual matter, writing completion letters which outline the deductions of the loan to both our client and the borrower’s solicitors.
- Dealing with post-completion matters, including filing sub-charges and mortgage deeds at Companies House.
- Creating Forms to change the register once a matter has completed using templates on Laser Form, including AP1s, RX1s and Transfer of Charges.
- Lodging the above mentioned documents at the Land Registry using the online portal in order to register our client’s charge.
- Submitting SDLT Tax Forms on line
**Conveyancing**
- Opening files based on client’s initial instructions.
- Creating the terms and conditions of business for each individual client as well as the initial letter to client outlining Richards’ procedure.
- Carrying out verify searches on clients
- Writing initial letters to the estate agents, managing agents.
- Updating client as to general progress made
- Preparing Property Information Forms and Leasehold Enquiries
- Creating contract documentation for the sale of properties, e.g. drafting the contract, downloading Office Copies from the Land Registry.
- As for the lending, lodging documents at the Land Registry to register a charge, a new lease or an extension of a lease or transfer of equity.
**General**
- Liaising with clients
- Photocopying/sending faxes
- Covering other departments when need arises
- General administration
- Covering reception when required
- Banking
**You will need**:
The ability to work well within a team as well as independently. Being proactive and having a keen eye for detail are all important to the role. A willingness to learn, develop and be an integral member of the team are also essential qualities. You need to be confident communicating verbally and in writing with a variety of clients and businesses.
