**Role**: Paint Shop Supervisor

**The Role**

The primary shop contains automated, semi-automated and manual processes including press brakes, punch presses, CNC machine centres, large powder coat paint plant, spot welding, Mig and Tig manual welding. The Paint Shop Supervisor will work in partnershipwith the Primary Shop Supervisor to ensure workflow through the department, with support from the Chargehands.

The supervisor is responsible for the day to day people management, including performance appraisals, identifying training requirements, and managing temporary worker levels. The supervisor is responsible for developing plans to efficiently use materials,labour and equipment.

The Paint Shop Supervisor is responsible for the management, coordination, scheduling, prioritizing & monitoring of the primary hop production requirements and activities to ensure all internal & external customer requirements are met. The Supervisor isrequired for developing and implementing plans to meet production targets.

The Paint Shop Supervisor is responsible for performance, delivery and quality KPIs.

The supervisor should direct quality control inspection systems and ensure established production quality standards and procedure checks are met. Monitoring and reviewing weekly KPI efficiencies by line(s) and identifying KPI deviations in efficiencies andput in corrective action or continuous improvement request are key in managing the KPIs.

The Primary Shop Supervisor, in conjunction with chargehands, is responsible for managing the flow of work through the primary shop ensuring this is done efficiently whilst minimizing down time and waste. As a project driven business, work levels and demandvaries throughout the year and it is therefore important to understand push & pull manufacturing to ensure flow of work meets capacity, coupled with ensuring employee capacity (permanent & temporary) are able to meet the demands.

As a lean manufacturer, the Paint Shop Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the lean principles are embedded in the department and providing continuous improvement solutions. The supervisor is responsible for monitoring 5s procedures and processes, aswell as utilising visual management in the department. The supervisor plays a key role in supporting our lean principles.

In this role, the Paint Shop Supervisor works collaboratively across the organization liaising with various departments including Factory Planning, Quality, and the Design teams.

**The Responsibilities**

The Paint Shop Supervisor’s responsibilities include:

- Ensuring the lean principles are embedded in the department and providing continuous improvement solutions
- Ensuring production efficiencies are communicated throughout the team and that they are met in line with staffing levels available.
- Ensuring staffing levels are reviewed periodically and action is taken to meet the forward production plan.
- Communicating clearly and effectively with Supervisor and Chargehands to ensure they are aware of production priorities and the schedule is being adhered to, in conjunction with the Production & Logistics Supervisor and the Factory Planner.
- Ensuring quality standards are communicated throughout the team and are adhered to at all times.
- Ensuring all health & safety requirements are communicated and adhered to.
- Managing day to day personnel issues within the department and ensuring they are resolved in a timely manner. These may include having difficult conversations, leading formal processes, recruitment & working with agencies, as well as managing the department’sannual leave in line with operational requirements. Additionally, ensuring that the performance appraisals timeline is followed.
- Promoting and maintain good housekeeping and ensuring the environment is safe and clean at all times.
- Ensuring that the team is performing their duties as required.
- Communicating effectively and coordinating with relevant parties on various initiatives.
- General departmental administration.
- Maintaining an inventory of raw materials and finished products.
- Purchasing needed inventory and maintaining BOM status.
- Plan and manage the departmental budget.

**The Requirements**

The Paint Shop Supervisor should have knowledge and experience working in metal fabrication and in a similar role in a paint plant. The Supervisor should be comfortable gaining experience across the department.
- Be experienced in people management and leading a team.
- Have experience in lean manufacturing and will embrace lean principles.
- Have understanding of production planning & scheduling.
- Understand ERP / MRP systems and have confidence in their ability to utilise our system (Syteline) effectively.
- Work in a collaborative manner with other factory supervisors.
- Build job knowledge across the department.
- Be confident in their ability to manage the general administration of the department, including use of Office 365.
- Be a strong team player with the ability to work with all levels across the business.
- Have an understanding of metal fabrication.
- Be organized and methodical in their approach.
- Be motivated, disciplined, flexible and have the ability to use their own initiative.
- Be an excellent communicator - both in writing and verbally.
- Confidently evaluate situations and make decisions as required.
