Are you interested in developing a career with a real purpose? Begin your career as a Casework Assistant or Administrative Officer with the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).
Casework Assistants and Administrative Officers are integral supporting roles in the CPS. As a Casework Assistant or Admin Officer, you will often be the point of contact dealing with enquiries and correspondence in a professional and courteous manner and be responsible for providing support within your team, gaining insight into the important work of the CPS along the way.
In either role, you can expect to be upheld as a professional in your delivery of customer service to both internal and external stakeholders, and will build on skills such as communication, quality checking and time management in order to complete your work to a high standard to help achieve team goals and objectives.
For both roles, you will be pivotal support to the delivery of tasks that assist in the overall delivery of justice and you may find yourself drafting correspondence to other members of the Criminal Justice System post hearing, as a Casework Assistant, or as an Admin Officer liaising with Business Centre Colleagues giving advice on an enquiry as after discussion with your team members.

**Job description**:
**Admin Officer**
To provide general administrative assistance to the team. To act as the first point of contact for the unit, dealing professionally and courteously with general enquiries and passing to the relevant person or department as and when necessary.**Casework Assistant**
To provide casework and general administrative assistance to prosecution team members. To act as a point of contact for the unit, dealing with enquiries and correspondence in a professional and courteous manner. Preparation of cases for court, ensuring that all case files are accounted for.**CPS Areas**
The CPS operates across England and Wales, with 14 regional teams prosecuting cases locally in the magistrates’ courts and Crown Court. Each of these 14 CPS Areas is led by a Chief Crown Prosecutor, whose paralegal, casework and prosecution staff work closely with local police forces and other criminal justice partners to prepare, progress, charge and prosecute local cases.**Person specification**:
**Admin Officer**
To monitor the accuracy of data received into the team, challenging appropriately that which does not meet CPS policy, seeking guidance where necessary.
- To prioritise work and manage time effectively, balancing conflicting priorities where necessary, ensuring all tasks are completed to a high standard within the specified deadlines. To promptly identify potential problems and present suggested solutions to line manager.- Provide assistance and support to the team by performing a range of general administrative duties when required.
- To provide a professional service to both internal and external contacts ensuring that information and advice is given in an organised and professional manner. To cover reception when required.**Casework Assistant**
Preparing case files for court within timescales ensuring all tasks are completed to a high standard and within the deadlines set.
- Preparing cases for court hearings and serving material on other parties ensuring all information is recorded on CMS accurately.
