**Job summary**:
**Role Purpose**:
To drive value for the business through visible, credible leadership to underpin the on-going development of Registers of Scotland as an outcome focused, data-rich, analytically driven organisation that delivers successfully on its statutory purpose and strategic aims.
- **About this Role**:
Are you analytical minded and love nothing more than helping organisations see the wood for the trees and deliver value to customers? If so then we have a great opportunity for you to lead our Data and Analytics team at RoS. As a 400+ year old business we have no shortage of data, ranging from all of Scotland’s spatial mapping information through to textual land register documents and everything in between.
- Registers of Scotland is the oldest Land and Property register in the world and we’re on a journey to become a digital registration and information business. We are at a pivotal moment in our history where we need strong leadership in our Data & Analytics business to structure, analyse and surface information from our 20+ registers to our customers. Historically, our processes have been largely manual, but over the last 5 years RoS has been on a Digital transformation and is now leading the way in our adoption of Cloud and the modern capabilities that this enables. Our ‘customers’ are changing, as are their needs and this role will lead a team of 45+ to set the vision, strategy and deliver a roadmap for how RoS will deliver the best possible service to these customers and the citizens of Scotland. It’s an exciting time at RoS and if you are driven by making a difference and are excited by the potential of new technologies such as AI, then we would be keen to talk to you.**Job description**:
**Main duties**:
Your main duties will include:
- Provide visible leadership for our approach to data & analytics strategy and practices to drive value for stakeholders within RoS and the broader customer base.
- Build partnerships with the Board and the Executive Management Team to establish a vision for managing data as a business asset, building capabilities and leverage data and analytics capabilities to maximise the value from the data assets.
- Define the data and analytics vision, strategy and associated practices. Lead the creation (and assure the ongoing relevance) of the organization’s data and analytics strategy (which would include the use of AI and ML in analysing the data) in collaboration with EMT and the broader business.
- Be the organisational leader of data-driven insights and use cases that help support the continuous development and improvement of strategic and tactical business opportunities.
- Enhance our maturity and influence as a data-rich, analytically-driven organisation through establishing a data-driven culture and growing data literacy that is outcome focused and delivers insight and value to RoS.
- Developing our Data & Analytics talent and maturing the capabilities across the organisation. Building capability around data science and engineering, identifying and developing the skills and capacity we need for now and for the future to meet our aspirations to be a mature outcome focused data-driven organisation.
- Oversee the development of a robust data architecture model - ensuring best practice for storing and structuring both textual and geospatial data.
- Strengthen our collaboration with other organisations around data, building strong effective partnerships with the wider public sector as well as private sector interests to empower citizens, advance transparency and enable better government services to be provided.
- As a member of the RoS senior leadership team, you will be expected to display RoS’ values - impartial, forward thinking, customer-focussed, professional - throughout your approach and leadership.
