We have an exciting opportunity arising within the Housing and Communities Service. We are looking for an energetic, driven, and influential person for the role of Resettlement Co-ordinator. This new role will involve the co-ordination of resettlement support and assistance as well as the management of the Resettlement Team through a combination of direct reports and matrix management of staff based in other Services. The Resettlement Co-Ordinator will support the Team Leader in the role of ‘Resettlement Lead’ for Perth & Kinross Council, engaging directly with officials from the Scottish and UK Governments and CoSLA. You should be comfortable engaging with your peers in national forums and to provide feedback in a similar environment.
You will co-ordinate the resettlement support and assistance to people seeking sanctuary in Perth and Kinross through formal UK Resettlement Schemes, ensuring that we meet our commitment to resettle 20 people per year through these schemes. This will involve working extensively with partners, stakeholders and communities to deliver the safe and sustainable resettlement of displaced people in Perth and Kinross. It is important that you are passionate about the rights of refugees and other displaced people and understand the challenges that may be faced by these groups during their journey to resettle in a new country and integrate with new cultures. An understanding of the wider issues faced by refugee and migrant groups will be beneficial in this role. A practical approach to solving problems and findings solutions will be helpful.
You will be responsible for monitoring the budgets associated with the resettlement work and for submitting claims for tariff funding. In addition, you will be required to submit information to Government agencies around resettlement activity. You will be expected to prepare, submit and present monitoring or update reports to senior managers on an agreed frequency or provide detailed information and analysis for ad hoc requests. You should be able to evidence an ability to work with a high level of accuracy when presenting information and figures. We are looking for a good team player who understands the need to work collaboratively with colleagues and external partners and recognises and values other people’s strengths. You must however also be able to work on your own initiative with mínimal supervision, resolve problems independently and work with a “Think YES” approach.
As part of a new team you can expect to be part of forming the team and experience of setting up and forming a team will be useful, and you can expect to be involved in the development of the team, its processes and monitoring of outcomes. As a coordinator you should be confident in your ability to motivate a team and bring out the best in others. The team will be central to increasing the expertise around migrants, refugees and asylum seekers in Perth & Kinross. An interest in this area of work is vital along with a desire to stay up to date in an ever changing legislative landscape.
**Requirements**:
Hybrid Working with an expectation of a minimum of 3 days per week based in the office and attendance at in-person meetings or events as required.
The standard hours of work for this role are Monday to Friday from 8.45 to 5pm but due to the level and the nature of the post, there will be an expectation that you will work flexibly, and this could include occasionally working evenings and weekends to attend public meetings and events.
You will be required to participate in the Managers Out of Hours Standby Rota. This involves a full week on standby approximately 5 times per year. Being on standby means that you are the manager that will be contacted for support and advice for anything that happens outwith our normal working hours. This vacancy is not eligible for sponsorship.
