**Casual Weekend & Holidays Family Activities Facilitator**

**Working Hours**:Flexible hours across weekends and holidays**

**Pay: £9.50 per hour (please note that this rate will increase in line with the **April pay increases)**

**About the Role**:
Brooklands Museum welcomes over 185,000 visitors each year, these are made up of members of the public, Brooklands Members, VIPs, corporate hospitality guests and school groups.

You will be part of the Learning & Engagement Team and will report to our Learning & Engagement Officer and will play your part to ensure that the Museum consistently provides a high-quality experience to all.

The Family Activities Facilitator is responsible for leading and supervising our family activities during the weekend and school holiday periods, as well as at large-scale museum events. You will be responsible for creating a fun and interactive environment that encourages learning and exploration for all visitors to the Museum, particularly families and children.

It can be a varied role, we may even ask you to wear a costume or historical outfit to enhance the visitor experience and help bring the Museum to life. We are looking for confident communicators with a 'can-do' attitude, enthusiasm and a passion for creating memorable experiences for customers. Part of the role involves supervising the smooth running of our pedal planes and pedal cars, a popular and well-received activity for our visitors under 5 years old, as well as other craft activities or games.

Patience and quick-thinking will be essential for this role. We are looking for those with an ability to adapt activities to meet the needs and interests of different families and to respond to changing circumstances.

With a sense of pride you will help maintain Brooklands Museum presentation standards - never walking past a piece of litter, or ignoring an item that isn’t quite looking its best. You’ll always seek to address issues in a timely manner, reporting or escalating matters as required.

**Main areas of responsibility**:
**Delivery of Informal Learning & Engagement Programme**
- Deliver interactive family activities for visitors, including games, crafts, and other workshops.
- Actively engaging with visitors and providing relevant information about the Museum, its collection and stories.
- Be informed of the Museum's operations, providing information to visitors about exhibits, facilities, and events.
- Ensure that all activities are safe and appropriate for visitors of all ages, and that any necessary supplies or equipment are prepared and in good condition.
- Preparing the activities to be delivered which may involve manual handling of barriers, furniture, signage and event materials.
- Collaborate with volunteers and museum staff, including Learning & Engagement and Visitor Experience teams, to successfully deliver activities and workshops.
- Provide excellent customer service and address visitor questions and concerns in a professional and helpful manner.
- Occasionally wear a costume or historical outfit to enhance the visitor experience and help bring the Museum to life.

**Training & Administration**
- Attend team meetings and undertake training related to the role as required.
- Support evaluation of activities by maintaining accurate records of attendance data and visitor feedback, as well as submitting your own facilitator feedback.
- Provide feedback and suggestions for programme improvement to the Learning & Engagement Officer.
- Monitor quality and stock levels of our activity resources, reporting low stock or faulty items to the Learning & Engagement Officer.
- Keep a record of working hours and submit monthly timesheets.

**PERSON SPECIFICATION**:
**Desired knowledge**:

- Experience engaging or working with children or families is desirable.
- Previous experience working in visitor attractions, museums or community setting is desirable.

**Knowledge & Qualifications**:

- Knowledge of best practice delivery to neurodiverse individuals and SEND groups or be willing to learn best practice.
